Hendersonville running back Ayden Meadows scored both of his team's touchdowns to lift the Commandos past Summit 14-7 on Friday, Oct. 2, spoiling the Spartans' homecoming in Spring Hill.

The loss drops Summit to 2-5 on the season and 1-2 in 6A Region 6. Hendersonville improved to 5-2.

The teams traded scores in the first half and went to the locker room tied 7-7, according to updates from Summit Spartans Athletics on X. The Commandos pulled ahead in the second half on Meadows' second touchdown, and Summit could not answer.

Spartans quarterback Davis Smith completed 12 of 19 passes for 154 yards with a touchdown and an interception, according to the Columbia Daily Herald. The touchdown recipient was not identified in available game reports.

Hendersonville leaned on its ground game. Tate Rumney led all rushers with 20 carries for 83 yards. Christopher Jordan added 58 yards on nine carries, and Meadows finished with nine carries for 27 yards to go with his two scores.

The game was Summit's final non-region contest of the season, according to a pre-game preview in the Columbia Daily Herald. Head coach Brian Coleman's squad now faces three straight region matchups to close the regular season.

Summit entered the night riding a spark of momentum. In Week 6, Smith connected with wide receiver Micah Sally on a touchdown pass with 3.8 seconds remaining to beat Shelbyville Central 20-19 on the road, as the Williamson Herald reported. That win gave the Spartans their first Region 6-6A victory of the year.

No such late-game magic materialized against Hendersonville, which entered on a three-game winning streak. The Commandos' only losses this season came to defending 5A state champion Page and to unbeaten Gallatin.

Summit's athletics department described the result as a hard-fought loss in a post on X after the final whistle.

The Spartans travel to Coffee County Central for a 7 p.m. region game on Friday, Oct. 16. Summit then hosts Franklin on Oct. 23 and closes the regular season at Independence on Oct. 30.
