Spring Hill (4-1) travels to Creek Wood (1-4) in Charlotte on Friday, Sept. 25, riding momentum into a non-region matchup.

The Raiders beat Maplewood 36-12 on Sept. 18, according to Yahoo Sports score results. Creek Wood picked up its lone win the same day, outlasting Battle Creek 47-40 in a region shootout.

Spring Hill's defense faces a major test in Creek Wood senior receiver Odell Springer. He leads all Tennessee high school players in receiving yards with 667, according to MaxPreps statewide statistical leaders. The Red Hawks' 1-4 record belies the big-play ability Springer brings every week.

Main Street Media of Tennessee columnist Maurice Patton, who writes predictions under the name "Mostradamus," picks Spring Hill to win. Patton wrote that region play is "cranking up in earnest over the second half" of the TSSAA season.

After the Creek Wood trip, Spring Hill returns home to face Dickson County in Week 7.

Summit looks for answers against Shelbyville

Summit (1-4, 0-2 in region) faces Shelbyville (1-4, 0-3) on Friday, Sept. 25, with both teams searching for traction. Summit needs a win. The Spartans fell to Lincoln County 42-21 on Sept. 18, while Shelbyville lost to Brentwood 43-13.

Head coach Brian Coleman, now in his 13th season at Summit, retooled his staff before the 2026 campaign. Former Spartan players Keaten Wade and Cooper Koch, both members of the 2020 state championship team, joined as assistants. Former Nolensville coach Paul Derrick took over as defensive coordinator, and former Franklin coach Alex Melton moved into an expanded role, the Williamson Herald reported in an Aug. 20 season preview.

"In a public school, sometimes you're going to take your lumps … it's still building," Coleman told the Williamson Herald in August, describing the program's reliance on young players over the past two seasons.

The Spartans went 2-8 in the 2025 season and missed the playoffs for a second straight year. Three of those losses came by a touchdown or less. Summit has posted just one postseason win since falling in the 2021 state final, a game that capped three consecutive state title game appearances.
