Eight Summit High School seniors will sign their college Letters of Intent on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 3:15 p.m. in the Summit Auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public, according to an announcement from Summit athletics. The signing spans five sports: softball, cross country, volleyball, soccer and track and field.

Soccer player Summer Riley committed to the University of Florida. The Columbia Daily Herald reported in October that Riley had been making plans for a collegiate future in Starkville, Mississippi, before she was rocked by unexpected news last winter.

Two volleyball players from the defending Class AAA state champion Spartans will also sign. Raegan Burtch is headed to Florida Southern College. Burtch reached 1,000 assists after a sectional match at Station Camp in October, Main Street Media of Tennessee reported. She also reached her first state tournament with the defending champion Spartans.

Everleigh Deshazo will sign with Florida Gulf Coast University. Deshazo posted 17 kills in Summit's straight-set sweep of Ravenwood in the District 10-AAA tournament on Oct. 6, according to the Williamson Herald.

Five sports. Eight athletes.

Ava Sweere rounds out the soccer signings, committing to King University. In cross country and track, Kenzington McConathy will sign with UT Chattanooga. Mason Archote committed to UT Southern for cross country.

Two softball players complete the class. Sam Malcolm will head to Tusculum University, and Brooklyn Robertson will sign with Freed-Hardeman University.

Summit athletics asked attendees to stay for the full ceremony to support all eight athletes.
