Summit High School's volleyball team swept Nolensville in three sets Wednesday, Oct. 7, to reach the District 10-AAA championship.

The No. 3-seeded Spartans won 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 in Spring Hill, knocking off the No. 2 seed and 2024 Class AAA state champion, according to the Williamson Herald. The district championship tips off Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. at Summit.

The defending state champions have now won two straight tournament matches without dropping a set. Summit opened the bracket Tuesday, Oct. 6, with a 25-21, 25-17, 25-10 quarterfinal sweep of No. 6 Ravenwood, as first reported by the Williamson Herald.

Senior Everleigh DeShazo led the attack in that quarterfinal with 17 kills. Senior Emery Estep added 10 kills and senior Madison Spelta totaled seven. Senior Reagan Burtch ran the offense at setter.

"They were focused and communicating … We just poured into each other and knew what our goal was to achieve," head coach Warne Riker told the Williamson Herald after the Oct. 6 Ravenwood win.

Summit won the 2025 Class AAA state title in a five-set thriller over Brentwood. Riker returns six seniors this fall: Tessa Rowe, DeShazo, Aaree Poag, Estep, Spelta and Micah Hayes.

In a preseason interview with the Williamson Herald in August, Riker acknowledged the pressure of defending a championship in one of the state's toughest districts.

The Spartans' lone stumble in the district bracket came Oct. 1, when Franklin rallied to beat Summit in five sets during the regular season. Franklin entered the district tournament as the No. 1 seed.

Thursday's championship opponent has not been confirmed. The other semifinal, between No. 1 Franklin and No. 4 Page, was scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m. at Summit, but no result was available as of Oct. 8.

The winner of Thursday's title match advances to the Region 6-AAA tournament. First serve is 7 p.m. at Summit High School, 2830 Twin Lakes Dr., Spring Hill.
