A 22-year-old Williamson County woman died Saturday, Oct. 17, after a two-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 65 near the Interstate 840 interchange.

Caylin Wilson was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra when she struck a divider wall and traveled across the roadway, where her vehicle was hit by a 2017 Toyota Camry, the Tennessee Highway Patrol said, as first reported by WKRN News 2.

Wilson was reportedly wearing a seatbelt but died from her injuries. The 59-year-old driver of the Toyota was also injured. The extent of that driver's injuries has not been released.

The Highway Patrol reported the crash at approximately 4:19 a.m. in the southbound lanes at mile marker 59. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) placed the initial report at about 4:45 a.m. The mile marker sits near the I-840 junction in Williamson County, just south of Franklin.

Hours-long lane closure

All southbound lanes of I-65 were closed while crews cleared the scene. TDOT spokesperson Erin Zeigler said the roadway reopened around 8 a.m., according to a separate WKRN report on the closure.

The shutdown kept southbound traffic off the interstate for roughly four hours on a Saturday morning.

No charges disclosed

Neither the Highway Patrol nor TDOT has announced any charges or citations connected to the crash. Officials have not released details about what caused Wilson's vehicle to strike the divider wall.

The Highway Patrol has released no additional information.
