The Thompson's Station Community Association is preparing its fifth annual Holidays at the Station, a free outdoor gathering at the town's historic Town Hall on Sunday, Dec. 6.
The event runs from 3 to 5 p.m. at 1110 Fountain View Blvd. and is expected to draw about 800 people, according to TSCA board president Jeanne Westbrook in an interview with Thompson's Station Lifestyle.
Everything is free.
Westbrook, who said she logs roughly 1,000 hours a year on TSCA work, described the event as a family-oriented afternoon anchored by live music, school performances and holiday activities. Local Americana duo Radio Farm will open the main stage, followed by students from Independence High School, Summit High School, Heritage Elementary and Thompson Station Middle School performing choral, instrumental and theatrical sets.
Free photos with Santa, balloon artists, holiday tattoos, crafts, games and food round out the afternoon. The event closes with a tree lighting and a reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Mrs. Claus, complete with milk and cookies for children. The tree itself had to be replaced after an ice storm damaged the previous one.
New this year: TSCA volunteers painted 320 Christmas-themed rocks and plan to hide them in neighborhoods and stores in the weeks before the event. Each rock carries a QR code linking to the event's Facebook page.
"We don't want anybody worried about bringing money or having to buy things," Westbrook said. "We just want people to come out and enjoy."
The idea came from Westbrook's autistic grandson, who found a painted rock left by a school and was thrilled by the discovery.
TSCA revived about five years ago after going dormant. The seven-member board focuses on enhancing local parks and greenbelts, bringing neighbors together and preserving the town's character. Thompson's Station's population grew from 2,194 in the 2010 census to 7,485 in the 2020 count, according to census data.
Last year's event included a coat drive that collected about 120 coats donated to Nashville. Westbrook said the board is considering a different charitable partner for 2026 but has not finalized plans.
Sponsors include Tennessee Equine Hospital, Premier Pools and Spas, CAT equipment and two local preschools. Bradymade Events provides lighting and audio setup at no charge each year.
The association needs about 20 volunteers for Dec. 6, up from 14 last year. Residents can reach TSCA through its Facebook page at Facebook.com/theTSCA.
