Spring Hill's Community Senior Center will get new flooring and plumbing repairs after receiving a $50,000 state grant.
Brad Turner, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging (DDA), presented the check at the center on Wednesday, Oct. 14, according to a city announcement. The grant will fund capital improvements to the building at 563 Maury Hill St.
Planned work includes new flooring on both the upper and lower levels and fixes to plumbing problems throughout the facility, the city said. No timeline for the construction has been announced.
The city said membership at the center is growing and called the facility an important gathering space for Spring Hill's older residents. The center offers free membership to adults 55 and older and hosts daily card games, weekly bingo, monthly craft projects, guest speakers and daily group exercise classes, according to the center's program page.
