Maury County firefighters battled a combine fire and explosion on Mt. Joy Road on Wednesday, Oct. 21, spending more than an hour on the scene.
No one was injured, according to Maury County Source, which first reported the incident Oct. 26.
Maury County Fire Department units were dispatched at 11:12 a.m. and arrived to find the combine about 40% engulfed in flames, the outlet reported.
A large explosion occurred shortly after crews reached the scene. Several smaller explosions followed as the machine's tires blew out.
Firefighters extinguished the combine and a corn field that had also caught fire. Crews then spent more than an hour overhauling the machinery.
The source's account described the machinery catching fire "following a explosion," though it also reported the large explosion occurring after crews arrived. The exact sequence of the fire and explosion was not clarified.
The cause of the fire has not been publicly reported. No information about the combine's owner or operator appeared in the report.
