Spring Hill families zoned to Maury County Public Schools have until Oct. 23 to weigh in on how the district spends state education dollars.
The district published its 2026 accountability report under the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement Act on Monday, Oct. 5, and opened a public feedback form on its ParentSquare page. The form closes Friday, Oct. 23.
State law requires every Tennessee school district to file an annual TISA report with the Tennessee Department of Education. The report must outline academic goals, explain how funding supports those goals and reflect on whether past spending improved student achievement.
Districts must collect public comment before submitting the final document.
TISA, signed into law by Gov. Bill Lee in May 2022, shifted Tennessee to a student-based funding model and directed more than $9 billion in K-12 education funding statewide. The formula provides a base amount for every public school student, plus additional dollars tied to individual student needs.
This is the third year the district has collected TISA feedback. Maury County Public Schools ran the same process in October 2025.
The report lands during a stretch of academic momentum for the district. On the 2026 TCAP exams, MCPS posted overall English Language Arts proficiency of 35.6%, math proficiency of 33.5% and social studies proficiency of 43.3%. Those figures represent five-year gains of 14.6, 15.7 and 22 percentage points, respectively, since 2021.
Superintendent Lisa Ventura called the five-year trajectory encouraging but said the district's "work is not finished." She made the remarks July 27 when MCPS released its TCAP results.
In December 2025, the Tennessee Department of Education gave MCPS an Advancing School District designation for the first time, upgrading the district from its previous Satisfactory rating. Researchers at Harvard, Stanford and Dartmouth also named MCPS a "District on the Rise" in the Education Recovery Scorecard released in May 2026, according to a district announcement, citing strong gains in both math and reading.
The district has not announced when the final report will be submitted to the state. Families can access the report and feedback form through the MCPS ParentSquare page at mauryk12.org.
