Williamson County's 24-member Board of Commissioners meets Monday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. with a public hearing on de-annexed properties and at least one policy vote on the agenda.
The meeting takes place in the auditorium of the Williamson County Administrative Complex, 1320 West Main St. in Franklin. Residents can also watch the live stream on WC-TV's YouTube channel.
De-annexation hearing
The commission will hold a public hearing on properties that have been de-annexed. The Williamson County Planning Commission approved a rezoning of parcels from Rural Preservation-5 (RP-5) to Municipal Growth Area-5 (MGA-5) at its Sept. 10 meeting and forwarded a resolution to the full commission, according to the Planning Commission's October agenda.
The specific parcels, acreage and affected municipalities were not identified in the county's public calendar listing. The full agenda packet is available on the county's agenda center.
HR policy overhaul
Commissioners O'Neil and Tunnicliffe requested Resolution No. 10-26-28, which would adopt an updated Human Resources Policy Manual for county government. The resolution passed the Human Resources Committee 4-0, according to the agenda packet.
The updated manual includes a new nepotism policy, a new lactation accommodations policy and changes to recruitment, orientation and personnel records procedures.
New leadership at the helm
Chairman Chas Morton, who represents District 9, presides over the commission. County Mayor Andy Marshall took office in July after Rogers Anderson stepped down following 24 years in the role.
At the July 13 meeting, the outgoing board unanimously approved bond issuance up to $17.85 million for courthouse development, $100,000 for a preliminary courthouse study and more than $35 million in school capital intent-to-fund resolutions, according to a recap by Bill Petty.
The county operates services in both Spring Hill and Thompson's Station, including Fire and Rescue Station 23 in Spring Hill and the Longview and Bethesda recreation centers, according to county records.
What's next
Early voting for the Federal/State General and Municipal Election begins Wednesday, Oct. 14. The commission's next regular meeting is scheduled for the second Monday of November.
