Spring Hill sits at 5-1 after beating Creek Wood 19-6 on Friday, Sept. 25, giving the Raiders their best start in 28 years. Head coach Josh Taylor is sharing the milestone with family: his sons Jackson and Austin both play on the roster.

The family connection mirrors Josh Taylor's own childhood. His father, Paul Taylor, coached Josh and older brother Kelvin as they grew up in Lewisburg, as Main Street Media of Tennessee first reported Sept. 27.

Jackson Taylor wears No. 2 as a senior safety. Austin Taylor wears No. 1 as a sophomore safety, according to the Spring Hill roster on MaxPreps. Both line up in the secondary for their father's defense.

Josh Taylor is in his second year as head coach and his sixth season on staff at Spring Hill, according to a Rotary Club of Columbia coaches preview.

The Raiders are rolling. Spring Hill outscored opponents by an average of 34.2 points during a four-game winning streak entering the Creek Wood game, per MaxPreps.

Against Creek Wood, running back Kasen White rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Jonah Gipson completed 7 of 10 passes for 94 yards. White has averaged 99.2 rushing yards per game over his last six outings, up from 22.7 per game in his first 10 games last season, per MaxPreps.

The Columbia Daily Herald reported the 5-1 mark is the program's best start in 28 years. The week before the Creek Wood win, Gipson rushed 12 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns while completing 6 of 10 passes for 45 yards in a 36-12 victory over Maplewood, according to the Daily Herald's Week 5 report.

Spring Hill (1-0 in district) hosts Dickson County (3-3) on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. The Raiders then travel to Battle Creek before closing the regular season at home against Marshall County and Montgomery Central.
